Note: Snapchat ranks as the fastest-growing social application by a fair margin, with its number of users up 67% between Q3 2013 and Q1 2014 (+95% among 16-19-year-olds). However, there are some important caveats: the survey only tracked internet users aged 16-64 (it’s likely that older internet users would be more likely to adopt Facebook than other, newer apps) and excluded internet users in China and Japan, removing popular Chinese platforms from the equation. Nevertheless, messaging apps appear to be growing quickly, with Kik Messenger (32%) and WhatsApp (30%) rounding out the top-3 fastest-growing, per the survey results. (more…)
